Friday's Devotion

Here is the devotion they are schedule to do on Friday morning - our Thursday night.

Kenya 2008: A guide for your time alone with God
The following devotionals were taken from The Message Remix: Solo.

Friday July 25th – Psalm 62

READ: Read today’s passage outside

THINK: In our Western mind-set, we describe God with intangible ideas, such as God is love, God is peace, or God is compassionate. But in the Eastern mind-set, thoughts are described in vivid imagery and word pictures. The Psalms in particular describe God with tangible ideas: God is Father, God is the wind, God is an eagle. In this psalm David describes God as a rock. Find a few rocks outdoors and look at them. Take a few moments to reflect on the specific characteristics of rocks and how they describe God’s character. Write down your reflections.

PRAY: Thank God that he is like a rock, referring to your list to offer specific details. Thank him for what each of these aspects of his character means to you.

LIVE: Find a small stone and carry it with you today in your pocket or purse. Every time your hand closes on it, reflect on the fact that God is your rock.

I wrote this with my neice Tori in mind, but it is really for al of you and your families who chose to answer the call.

Choosing to follow
Wherever He may lead
Choosing to follow
A hungry soul to feed
Choosing to follow
A difference to make
Choosing to follow
Great risk one might take.

Choosing to follow
May lead far from home
Choosing to follow
One’s heart may have to roam
Choosing to follow
Wherever He may lead
Choosing to follow
Over any other need.

Tori, I know that you have such a heart for Christ and to be fulfilling a dream that coinsides with God’s plan for your life is such an awesome and awe inspiring thing. I cannot wait to get my passport now!

I love you!

You, your friends, colleagues and all the families that you are touching there in Kenya are in my heart and my prayers.

And, in the words of the young lady that approached Jenn today, “I wish you could bring some of the babies home for me”!
