Saturday's Devotion

Here is the devotion they are scheduled to do on Saturday morning, our Friday evening.

Kenya 2008: A guide for your time alone with God
The following devotionals were taken from The Message Remix: Solo.

Saturday July 26th – 2 Samuel 9:8–13

READ: Read the passage slowly, setting yourself inside the throne room. Look at David up close – the imposing crown, the rugged face that’s seen countless wars, the lavish surroundings. Now see Mephibosheth, “a stray dog” hunched in fear, embarrassed and uncomfortable. How might he have come into the room, being “lame in both feet”? What feelings rise up in you as you see the story play out? What questions come to mind?

THINK: Pause to become aware of how you relate to what is unfolding here. Which character do you identify with, if any? Why?

PRAY: Read the story a second time, being aware of memories, thoughts, or ideas it triggers. Read it one last time, listening for how the story’s message about honoring others relates to what is in you today. Spend time meditating on what you discover.

LIVE: Ask God if there is something he is specifically inviting you to do based on your reading today. Is there anything standing in your way of responding? Explore it with God. Talk to him about what holds you back from following him completely.
